Discuss: Latest PS3 Firmware Update Adds In-Game XMB / Trophies

Its about time that Sony adds these features to their console. These have long been promised and I am excited to see them finally become a reality.

I am looking forward to seeing what they can do with Home and if Microsoft will try to answer with their own virtual world.

I DID NOT want to buy the PS3 because I didn't think there were enough games out worth playing but I let me husband talk me into getting it. I wanted to smash his stupid head in after hearing him complain about how much it really sucks a couple days after the purchase. So hopefully little by little improvements will be made that will make me feel a little less retarded for making the purchase.

All of us that paid full price for the PS3 should feel like smashing our own heads, but the way I see it is that the PS3 was a long term investment. I knew from the start that there were very few games that were worth playing, but Sony has decent reputation for making quality products so I am fairly confident that it will last well past the life of my 360.

Finally there are some good games like Ratchet and Clank, Heavenly Sword, Unchartered, and of course Metal Gear. Most games are released on both consoles now so the 360 is slowly losing its advantage.

I do not know for sure about existing games and trophies, but seeing how rumble worked in games that were out before the controllers I would probably think they would.

It seems that in a year or so, Sony is going to have themselves a really great platform. Depending on how exclusives look, I imagine I'll pick one up when the next price drop rolls around.

Nice to see Sony finally stepping up and giving us some of the base features that we have come to expect from LIVE.

I'm sure the people at MS are watching, and will probably be releasing some news about LIVE at E3.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I still can't chat while in game via the XMB.

I read on Kotaku that all games will get Trophies in the future. Should I wait to finish playing MGS?
