I have to agree with Marchant here.....but it may not be so bad if they are allow titles that all played over Windows as mentioned in the article.

An excerpt from the article:

"according to rumours Microsoft is preparing to offer free multiplayer options on some titles, with Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies Edition, Universe at War: Earth Assault and Shadowrun all mentioned by name. All three games are also available on PC via Microsoft's Games For Windows range, which could be the key to the free online play."

Hmmmm. Well I agree as well that the service would go down with the price. I see where PC games could be free but personally I think what we pay now is good and if th new interface/features work well then it would be well worth it.

I think it's a relatively good price, I mean when you compare it to something like Warcraft where you have to pay 20 for the game, plus expansions, plus $15 a month for just one game, where Live is for all console material, it's a steal! I think if they did it for those really popular multiplayer games: Call of Duty, Unreal, Rainbow Six, Halo, and yes, Perfect Dark(say what you want, longest played Live game thus far, still had a strong constant following over a year later). Then more people will buy the game and be willing to pay for extra content and agreed, totally free Live would totally destroy the quality of the service.

Any knowing microsoft if Xboxlive was "free" they would make up the diference somewhere whether ith be raising game of DLC prices or something. And the service would go down because it would still be "free" in their eyes.
