I figured this would happen once M$ annouced the avatar. Another way to make money; as if they do not make enough.

Yep, there is pretty much no doubt in my mind that MS will be selling the avatar clothing. I can see them launching with a bunch of default options, alongside some paid options too. Vote with your wallet and either buy or not, it's up to you. I imagine it being quite similar to the gamer picture offerings we see on LIVE now. There will be a ton of options, some free, most not free. I'm sure that there will be more than enough free options if you don't wanna spend your money.
