Discuss: Braid Hits Live Arcade This Week for $15
Posted: 6 months ago
I don't know, I'll be sure to download the trial of this game but I still stand firmly in my belief that if an arcade game is going to cost more than 800 points then they better give me more achievements for my money.

None the less, if Castle Crashers turns out to be $15, I'm still going to buy it.

$15.....too high. The only game that I have enjoyed at that price and remember paying for it was Puzzle Quest and that was an impulse purchased based on the hype.

Yeah, Braid and Castle Crashers are both a little on the steep side. They both look like great games though. I'm just glad all XBLA games get trails, unlike the PSN. So I'll try them both before buying and keep my fingers crossed that they'll both be as good as I'm hoping. If so, looks like I'll be purchasing every XBLA game until the end of August!

I agree with gunnz on the trial, I might find some of the PSN games worthy of my money if were allowed to play them.

I almost never buy a game w/out playing it first. I can rent retail games on day one, then if I love i might pik it up.

I have been hearing postive buzz around Braid, i did by Penny arcade, but Bionic Commando comes out next week I think might just hold on for that

Normally, I would agree with you all on the pricing. However, I downloaded the demo, played through it, recognized its brilliance, and then gladly paid the $15. If Portal were available by itself on X360 for $15, would you have paid it? I know I would've. I can't say that Braid is as good as Portal, but there are a lot of comparisons one can make. And after one day of playing Braid, I've already put more time into it than I have with most full-price retail games that came out this year. If there's higher praise for a game, I can't think of it. They took the best parts of Super Mario Brothers, Prince of Persia, Ico, and Portal and mashed them together into an Impressionistic-styled game. I'd put it up there on the Top XBLA Game List, along with Pinball FX, N+, Carcasonne, and the Prince of Persia remake. It may not be 'deep' by some people's standards (IGN, I'm looking directly at you), but you can spend hours and hours with it if you so choose. And, unlike my other recent XBLA addiction (N+), it's not nearly as frustrating.

Great game.
