Discuss: XBL WTF: Why Can I Only Have 100 Friends?

i don't know, it's probably a resource thing. but is 100 really enough for a global community?

i have a similar problem with wow. i've already filled my main characters friends list so now i have to purge if i want to add people.

I can not understand just why this is so complicated. It must have to do with the amount of memory/resources that the dashboard has available to it. It would be a big trade-off to have game performance affected from having too many friends.

 Also I remember hearing on Major Nelson's podcast that the average person on XBL has around 20 or so friends (this might have been said on the 360plex cast as well now that i think of it) so they aren't disappointing the majority.... like me who has around 10 friends on XBL

Even with my old xbox friends added I have about 60 people on my friends list and that's anyone from the US, Canada, Japan, and Europe.

With the new "friends of friends" feature I have been able to add people while also taking of those friends who "where last online 4 months ago" off as well those players who don't play a good majority of similar games that I also play.

For example if I play alot of adventure, action and FPS games while they play mostly sports, racing, music and puzzle games then I don't see the point of keeping them. Since we aren't going to ever play together or against each other.

I use to have this problem then realized I only played or talked with maybe half of them on a regular basis so I deleted them. I think 100 is a good number

Between former and current co-workers, clan mates, and people on this great site ... I'm always having to prune my list to stay below 100. Maybe they could make it to where people who wanted more than 100 people on their friends list could pay MS points to have the extra bandwith (like Bungie did with Halo 3's data)?

sorry about the blank post ya 100 ppl is a really good # 4 me i have around 45 ppl now so it may be awhile b4 i need more then 100 friends but by the sounds of it there are some very popular ppl out there some may even call them xbox kings HAHAHA j/K ............SO YA i hope they do something about this soon for all the xbox kings and myself whenever i need it ,,;,.',./,.'"
