Discuss: Child-Man in the Promised Land

For the record, I think this article is ridiculous. Mens and women's roles in our society in the U.S. have changed dramatically in the last thirty years. Also, the rise of technology means more free time for most people. There will always be bachelors, and what they do with their free time is up to them. However, this does not mean that there are more 'child-men' then there were in the 50s and 60s.

If the Rat Pack were alive and in their prime in this decade, would they have spent less time whoring and boozing, and more time on Xbox Live?

that writer is seriously stupid, i loved it when he said that given a choice between a serious drama or lingerie models, cyborg battles and NFL games, that he would choose the latter, and therefore be immature. Really? who WOULDNT want cyborg battles, hot chick and football? so if we follow his logic, adult males between 18 and 34 should always follow the exact life table that all previous men did? whats this guys story? why isnt he wroking in a steel factory, or farming? what kind of panzy ass man writes stories? LOL. he is a prime example of ignorance about what gaming is about.
I have two children, an engineering job, a wife, I work hard and often. I also play video games. If i played cards and drank beer while watching the evening news. pass and go to work again, would i be more mature?

Unless I read the name incorrectly, the article was written by a woman (which is why I made the comment in my blog about her coming off as someone who recently had a bad experience on a blind date). Your last few sentences rings very true to me though. I own a house, am in a committed relationship (she never wants to get married, so that's not my fault!), and have a 'professional' career. Just because I'm not trying to be Ward Cleaver doesn't mean I'm immature.

I'm immature for other reasons! LOL

oh thats funny, for some reason i never caught on that it was a broad. NOW i totally get it. this chick propably got dumped becasue she is an uptight shrew, her man played video games, and this is her vengenace. she considers anything that is fun or relaxing "frivolous, unless it is something that she is interested in, then it is "mature"
