Discuss: Top 25 Games of all Time Posted: 2 months ago 'OH NOES, WHY ISN'T 'ICO' ON THAT LIST?!?' Seriously though. Ico should be in there somewhere. I think it's better than Shadow of the Colossus. --------------------------------- 'I wanna get my knees dirty.' -- Gunnz, Netcast 37
Posted: 2 months ago ICO?this list is howash. Chrono trigger beats GOW? tetris the #1 game? COD4 anyone? even COD1 and 2? battlield(s)??? this list is pretty random. i do agree with some, like doom, FF7 (Sephiroth was the MAN) --------------------------------- semper ubi sub ubi
Posted: 2 months ago If you're asking about Ico, here's a link to the Wikipedia page with a lot of info about it:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ico Basically, it's a very atmospheric puzzle / adventure game for the PS2. Shadow of the Colossus was the second game set in that universe (although it's technically a prequel). Both have very moving narratives, even though there is almost no dialog in either one. It's hard to describe, but if you have a PS2, you owe it to yourself to rent or buy either one. I'd recommend starting with Ico. Here's a link to the trailer, which should give you a good idea of what it's like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSXwreNIuYE&feature=related Essentially, you control a boy who was born with horns on his head (evolution?), and when a child is born like this, the adults take it to a huge isolated castle, and lock it in a sarcophagus. The boy escapes his tomb, and this is where the game begins. Early on, he finds a ghostly woman who speaks an alien language (which they subtitle, but in gibberish), and they try to escape their prison together. The ghost woman (Yorda) can open certain doors when she stands by them, but she cannot protect herself from the smoky demons that occasionally attack, and try to take her away. The boy and the ghost woman need each other to escape the puzzle-like castle. It's one of my favorite games of all time, and a true cult classic. --------------------------------- 'I wanna get my knees dirty.' -- Gunnz, Netcast 37
Posted: 2 months ago ICO is one of the best games i have ever played. I saw it in the rental shop one day in a cardboard cover and it was a weekly rental so i thought i may as well give it a go. It blew me away. The environment was just amazing and the puzzles were awesome. If you got a PS2 i recommend dusting it off and playing this game. You won't be disapointed. --------------------------------- Gamer Tag - Tha Sentinal. Hit me up.

Posted: 2 months ago For what Tetris is to video gaming, it deserves a spot on the list. Number one? I don't think so, but it should definitely be there. It's one of those games that EVERYONE has played in one form or fashion.Glad to see someone else here shares the ICO love! Just talking about the game makes me consider playing it all over again. I revisited it a couple of years ago and it still was just as great. Although the graphics don't give the same wonder as they used to, they're still successful in conveying a sense of emptiness and isolation, as well as a sense of scale (there are times when you can see a large portion of the palace and you realize just how much work you have ahead of you). --------------------------------- 'I wanna get my knees dirty.' -- Gunnz, Netcast 37

Posted: 2 months ago I remember reading a blurb about Tetris on some other Top ?? of video games in Maxim, of all places. I'll paraphrase... but the punchline remains intact and in quotations:When Tetris came out, it was hailed as shattering boundaries, revolutionizing the industry and revitalizing video games... "all of which means, it's simple enough for girls to play" As for ICO and Shadow, they are both masterpieces. I prefer Shadow, but probably only because I played it first. My initial playthrough of that left me astonished. The next and last game that left me so slack-jawed was BioShock.
Posted: 2 months ago COD4 yes needs to be on ther and what about super mario 3!!! love golden eye and zelda as well as GOW.--------------------------------- Slow is steady, Steady is fast.
Posted: 2 months ago Cod4 should definetally be on the list. there are so many shooters over the years that have been so good and have had a greater impact on gaming then Cod4. It is a GOOD game but as for top 25 game of all time it is not. Gears of War and Halo are the only shooters on the xbox 360 that are and have any buisness being on the list. Im sick of all you Cod4 fanboys that think its the greatest games EVER. It is a flashy looking shooter with a cool rank system that was put to shame by R6V2's rank system.

Posted: 2 months ago What about Bioshock? as far as how its mechanics it may not be as good as the likes of halo or GTA... actually yes it is! and a storyline which pulls you in more than any other game i can remember, this game was outstanding and yet apparently playing tony hawks is better
Posted: 2 months ago COD4 should be on the list, Bioshock I could in the top 50 but not top 25.--------------------------------- Currently Playing: COD4 Map Pack, Rainbow 6 2 expansion pack, N+, a little golf when I can.
Posted: 2 months ago Hammer got to disagree with you on COD4. No game has ever had me playing it 8/9 months after release. It might not be genre changing or done anything different than any other shooter but what it did do was all done to the highest standard. The single player had an engaging story with characters that you did give a shit about. All though short, on Veteran it was a challenge. Mutlplayer was also awesome with excellent game modes. The ranking system was flawed in the fact anyone could get to the top but to me it gave me something to work towards whilst playing the game and getting to Prestige 10 level 55 is an excellent challenge which I throughly enjoyed. Halo 3's ranking system was flawed due to the fact if you got stuck with some shit team mates you ranking went down. Hardly fair. Call me a COD4 fanboi, I dont care. I have played most next gen shooters and in my opinion (which everyone is allowed to have) it should be in the top 25 and maybe in the top 10. No game that is not very good still rides at number 2 in the UK chart eight months after release! |
